My baby!

Sorry guys! Have really been busy with the baby because I'm caring for him all by myself.

Here're some photos of him. He's now almost 5 months old :)

Here's a photo of him when he was just born. Babies really do change a lot as they grow!

As such, I am sad to say that I will not be going back to Nan Chiau to teach soon. Need to stay with my baby :)

I wish that all of you have a great time studying and learning. Have fun!

Update!
Wednesday, August 5, 2009
12:47 PM
Hi guys,

Sorry for slow update. I've been busy getting the baby's room and stuff ready.

Time really flies... Only 3 more weeks to baby's arrival! I can now feel the baby kicking and punching, and bumps will appear on my tummy, like in the Little Nonya advertisement on Channel 8 ;)

At my last checkup, the baby is weighing 2.6kg and already in position, all ready to be born. My tummy is now like a huge watermelon, very heavy. And my belly button has popped out! Here's a photo to gross you out.

Biology lesson:
=========

The vertical line running down my tummy is called the 'linea nigra'. All girls have it, but it only darkens when they are pregnant. No one has any idea what it is useful for!

I also have many stretchmarks underneath my tummy. The skin suddenly expands too much when the baby grows, resulting in tearing on its surface. But all these marks are supposed to fade away after the baby is out.

----------------------------------------------

So please be kind and considerate to any pregnant teachers in Nan Chiau. It is really very tiring to be carrying the tummy around, especially when they have to stand the whole day during lessons.

With H1N1 here, pregnant women are also at very high risk of infection because they have lower immunity. I'm sure any pregnant teacher will be very worried for her baby's health, as well as her own. Did you know that at least 6 pregnant women in USA have already died from H1N1?

So please remember to wash your hands properly! Cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze or cough. And boys, no digging of your nose during class! ;)

I'll post again when the baby is out.

How many of you watched the last episode of "My School Daze" last night?

I have been following this drama series because it really reflects how a teacher feels.

Just like Mr Tan (who is played by Chen Hanwei), your teachers get very discouraged when you don't pay attention in class. We get angry, NOT because we feel that you are disrespecting us. It is because we feel disappointed and sad, that you don't take yourself seriously enough.

You pay money to come to school to study, so be hungry!!! Grab every opportunity to learn.

Go ahead and play during recess or before/after class, but when your teachers step into your classroom, please be ready to absorb information like a sponge. Not for the sake of the teacher, but for yourself.

At the end of the show, Miss Zhang (played by Rui En) says something very true --- If people look down on you, all the more you should prove them wrong. Also to prove to yourself that you are not as lousy as people think.

Some students decide to give up. Why? No matter what excuse you choose for yourself, giving up just means that you believe you are as lousy as people think. Correct?

So don't.

I don't have the chance to teach you in class anymore, so forgive me for being such a nagger here! ;)

In conclusion, ATTITUDE is all that matters. As long as you want to learn, and show that you want to learn, your teachers will have the motivation to help you. Ok?

Hello!!!!!!!

Dear students,

Sorry for being M.I.A. (that means 'missing in action') for the last few months. I've been very busy trying to read books on how to have a healthy baby and be a good mummy. Because I am not teaching now, I've also been busy doing design projects for clients, so I can at least earn some money while staying at home.

I realise that some of you are waiting to meet me on MSN, but nowadays I am in bed by 10pm so that my baby can have enough sleep. I need to sleep a lot now, as pregnant women keep waking up to pee pee at night. Sometimes I wake up to go to the toilet and stay awake for 2 hours before I fall asleep again. So, very tiring. I am probably asleep whenever you guys are online!

My baby is now 5 and 1/2 months in my tummy. It's a boy!!!

Here are some photos for you to see. You can click on the photo to enlarge it.

These were taken using ultrasound technology at the doctor's office, where a cold gel is applied on my tummy and the doctor uses a scanner to go over it.

1st photo:
This was taken during my very 1st checkup, when I was still teaching in Nan Chiau. Baby was tiny at 2 months, measuring only 2.6 cm. He looks like a bean! See, so much space left in my womb for him to swim around.

2nd photo:
This is him one month later, growing quickly to 7.9 cm. Can you see his spine/backbone? He's also in a funny pose, and there's less space for him to move about now.

3rd photo:
I just took this photo last week! He's now more than 15cm (that's the length of a short ruler), so big that his head is touching the top of my tummy. Can see his face much more clearly too :)

Goodbye for now

Dear all,

Some of you would have heard by now that I will not be teaching you from next term onwards. I have resigned because I am not feeling very well these days.

I am pregnant! You can't see my tummy because I'm less than 3 months pregnant. But it is also in these 3 months that vomiting is the worse. For the past 2 weeks I have not been able to eat or drink --- everything is vomited out. So I have no strength, especially if I need to shout at naughty classes. Shouting makes me feel like vomiting too.

So I need to stay at home and get well.
I'm not sure when or if I will be returning to Nan Chiau.

There will be a new teacher coming to teach you in Term 2. She is an ex-student of Mdm Ngor, who teaches Sec 2-5 Art. Ask the new teacher to teach you how to draw manga! I heard that she's good in that :)

Please continue to like Art and put in effort for it. I'll see you for our last lesson this coming week. All the best for your Common Tests!

You can find me on Facebook / Friendster / MSN by using this email address "redlychee@yahoo.com".

Lesson 3: Dots, lines and shapes
Sunday, February 15, 2009
9:39 PM

We learnt that dots combine to become a line, which joins other lines to make up a shape.

Here are the videos I wanted to show you in class but some classes could not see them because of technical problems:

Dots (1940)

Dots and Lines

Line Dot Detective

Love Story Between The Dot and The Line *must see!

Our next project is creating a portrait of ourself, or a friend in class. Some of you wanted to draw Mrs Low, so pls go ahead.

The style we follow is that of Pablo Picasso, the Spanish painter known for disfiguring his subjects and using shapes to draw them. Here is his picture, and some samples of his work.

I am looking forward to seeing your artworks!

Lesson 2: Textures
8:33 PM

What is texture? It is what your hand feels if you run it over a surface. It can be smooth or rough, sometimes you can even feel patterns sticking out.

For our first project we made texture shadings by rubbing over a pattern with our pencil or colour pencil. Here're some of the best works across the entire Sec 1 level. You can click on them to enlarge and see the details.

My other cat helped me choose!

These are the best effort winners:

The same parrot can be presented in different ways:

More good works:

One thing you would notice is that all these works are neat. I remind you again to have patience and put effort into creating a tidy masterpiece. Why let messiness spoil a perfectly good drawing? :)
